There are more pools a little further south - this is where the Red-crested Pochards are most likely to be

All the sites in this section are treated, in detail and with precise maps and directions, in my book ‘Finding Birds in Southern Cyprus’

If you have any information which you feel would help to update the book, please email me at dave@easybirder.co.uk and I’ll add your observations to these pages

Oroklini marsh

This is often one of the best wetlands for ducks and waders on the island though, like all the others, the number of birds is dependant on the highly variable water levels. It’s a good site for breeding Spur-winged Plover, passage waders and wintering Jack Snipe and the only site on the island where Red-crested Pochard regularly breeds.

The same site a few days later - now much more attractive to waders
