The car park at Iivaara - just follow the boardwalk across the lake and up the hill on the other side. Look out for Siberian Jays in the car park.

Probably the most popular area of Finland for forest birding. Species such as Red-flanked Bluetail, Arctic Warbler, Greenish Warbler, Pine Grosbeak, Hazel Grouse, Little Bunting and several of the northern Owls are usually present each summer but you may need the help of local experts to find them all. (see also Valtavaara and Konttainen)
The view from the bridge across the lake at iivaara. Listen here for Rustic Bunting.
Looking along the line of pylons at Lake Toranki. We had Little Bunting, Rustic Bunting and Willow Grouse here.
The skiddoo track at Lake Toranki. The lake shore was formerly the best site for Little Bunting but in 2010 the best birds here were breeding Red-necked Grebe
Looking back down the forest track at Naatikkavaara. The birches off to the left are where the Arctic Warbler is most likely to be heard. For a detailed map of this site, click here
