Alam Pedja is one of the wildest parts of Estonia, a vast network of bogs and forests, with all the hoped-for owls, woodpeckers, grouse and raptors, including both Greater and Lesser Spotted Eagles.

All the sites in this section are treated, in detail and with precise maps and directions, in my book ‘Finding Birds in Estonia’

If you have any information which you feel would help to update the book, please email me at dave@easybirder.co.uk and I’ll add your observations to these pages

Alam Pedja

From the tower you overlook an extensive peat bog. The open skyline is great for scanning for eagles; both Spotted and Lesser Spotted are possible

The boardwalk trail en route to the tower gives you a chance of forest species - I had Hazel Grouse and Crossbill

There’s an obvious car park next to the road, marked with a noticeboard
